It is not the best course around, It it however a mature course, with the flavor of real mexico, not the toursit traps. I probally would not come here at night, me not being a local for an early morning round it is good. I don’t really want to reccomend this place as I like how quiet it is, but I have to, as if you are going to Maz and like golf try this place. You wont find a fancy club house, or members only enterance. You will get great service. I played 7 rounds there my last vacation, Had the same caddie every day, so worth it and great value. Please tip you caddie good, they are great hard working guys! Coming back in July 2010 Can’t wait to play there many times during my stay.

Our visit to Mazatlan always typically includes a trip to play golf at Campestre. Now, if you’re expecting a course like Estrella del Mar, forget it. Campestre is it’s alter ego but it is a fun and enjoyable course. We walked 9 holes with our caddies, Jose and Brian. I fortunately got Jose who was a talker (well, he had broken English) and was a great adviser on which club to use and how far to the hole. Since Brian was pretty quiet he helped my partner out too regarding distances, finding balls, etc.

Cost for a caddie for 9 holes was 150 pesos or $10.00 plus tip. Not bad for an enjoyable 100 minutes of golf! The course is pretty flat and has several rough spots in the fairway. There are big jack rabbits hopping all around plus you’ll see the occasional iguana. The hard pan fairway and rough can be tough to hit out of occasionally but one gets used to it after a while.

Additional costs are I believe 200 pesos for green fees, 150 pesos for a dozen balls and some tees, and another 150 pesos to rent clubs. Versus paying around $150 U.S. dollars to play Estrella del Mar I’ll do this anytime for an enjoyable walk on the golf course and a chance to have fun with friends and a caddie!

Oh yes, the taxi ride out to Club Campestre was 120 pesos each way and is about 30 minutes from Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan and that area of the resorts. Just ask your Concierge to make you a tee time out there and you are set to go.

Additionally if you go in the morning they have a selection of canned beer and what smelled like a great lunch cooking to be sure to partake in this if you’re hungry!

We’ll be back next year to play for sure!
